FREE Consultation

When you visit our website, you will be prompted to fill out a short form. Once we receive the form, we will contact you to schedule your Free Consultation. This meeting can be performed by phone, Zoom or Facetime. Just choose the medium that you feel most comfortable with. This initial communication gives you the opportunity to meet a Private Investigator and discuss the basics of your case. During this FREE Consultation, we will determine many things. First, if your case is something we can help with, the methods we will use, then an estimate of the cost, the timeline, and other pertinent details will be revealed. At the end of this consultation you will have a grasp of what to expect and have time to decide if you would like to hire us.

Follow-up In-person Meeting

Once you have decided to hire us, it is time to meet with us in person. This is an important step as we need to verify exactly who we are working with and develop a connection with our client. During this Follow-up In-person Meeting, we will "get in the weeds" of the investigation. We will ask a lot of questions, spend a lot of time listening and go into more detail about what was discussed in the Free Consultation. This meeting can take some time as some cases have a lot of history which needs to be discussed. This meeting is not rushed and we will not conclude it until we understand exactly what your needs are and what you can expect from us.

Investigation

Armed with the knowledge of one consultation and an in-person meeting, we are ready to set up and implement a plan to accomplish the goals of your case. This may include but not be limited to a background investigation, surveillance, hidden cameras or drones, gathering witness statements ,as well as other investigative techniques. Once we have reached your budget limit, we will discuss options to continue the investigation, re-evaluate or terminate depending on your needs.

Conclusion

Once the investigation is complete, we will meet with you to discuss the details of your case. At this time, we can communicate with your attorney (only if we have written permission from you), or prepare to submit our Final Report.

Final Written Report

Every investigation ends with a Final Written Report. This report contains details of our investigative efforts and findings. This court-ready report which includes all the details of the case, including any video and photographic evidence that will be given to you.

Fees

Investigate NC will do everything possible to complete your investigation effectively and efficiently to keep costs as low as possible and keep you within your budget. We offer a FREE Consultation to gather as much detail as possible, understand your needs and share what you can expect from us.

Retainer Fee:

For certain case types, we work off of a Retainer Fee. This is a sum of money paid in advance of the investigation and we bill against that amount based on our hourly service rate and any expenses accrued during the investigation. You will receive periodic updates on our progress and we will adjust our strategy as needed to stay productive. It is during the FREE Consultation that we will share the retainer fee we feel is appropriate for your case.

Flat Fee:

For certain case types, we offer a flat fee. This is where we set a fixed price for services rendered. We estimate what the total work will include and set a price appropriate to compensate us for those services. These are normally done in cases where the work is predictable and we can accurately estimate the costs to complete the job. You will receive periodic updates on our progress, however, case adjustments may be limited due to the predetermined fixed price. It is during the FREE Consultation, that we will share the Flat Fee we feel is appropriate for your case.

Factors that may influence the amount of the Retainer Fee and Flat Fee are the following:

  • The type of investigation being performed

  • The amount of information provided by the client

  • The amount of hours of surveillance required

  • Airline, hotel, rental vehicle, gas, food per diem and other travel related costs

  • The amount of travel involved (driving is billed per mile)

  • Remote locations that require additional time and resources

  • The level of detail requested and any unique circumstances

  • Any hazards or dangerous factors involved in the investigation

  • Stringent timelines that require additional manpower & equipment

  • Any specialized equipment needed for the investigation

Court-appointed Investigations:

Retainer and flat fees are waived in court cases where the judge has approved a court-appointed Private Investigator. In those instances we work at the Court approved hourly rate. In some cases, your attorney can request that you be reimbursed for our fees by the person or entity we investigated. This request is sometimes granted since the other party is found guilty of wrongdoing or negligent in their responsibilities. Consult your attorney regarding reimbursement of investigative fees.

4K Video Examples

We use the latest 4K video technology to obtain valuable court-admissible evidence. 4K contains 4 times more data than 1080p HD (high definition) video. This means we get the most detailed video evidence you need for your case.

4K Video Zoom Example

Click on the video to see an example of our 4K video capturing capabilities. This video is staged as we would never place actual client footage on our website but it gives a good example of what we are capable of with our state-of-the-art equipment. We always date/time stamp our videos as a requirement to be admissible in court. Notice at the end of the video as we pan back to show how far away we are from the actual subject!

4K Video Quality Example

In this video we focus on the quality of the video captured. Notice the detail in the video as the subject loads items into her vehicle. As the video proceeds, we have the opportunity to zoom in to focus on facial identification then pan back out to focus on her activities. We are only a short distance from the subject but due to our experience with being invisible in plain sight, she never noticed us. This video footage would be more than sufficient for court evidence. Call us today so we can capture valuable evidence you need for court and to win your case!

4K Drone Investigation Video Example

As licensed investigators, we work the entire state of North Carolina which involves investigating subjects who live, work and occupy various types of land terrain. When faced with challenging situations, we utilize UAV's (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) aka Drones. Drones allow us to go places vehicles and humans cannot go. Soaring at heights of 400 feet in the air and zooming down with an eagle eye view, we capture video otherwise unobtainable by traditional methods. Look at the footage as we show what it looks like to be at 400 feet looking down. Image the possibilities for your case!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is your Agency licensed?
Yes. We are fully licensed by the State of North Carolina (BPN #112799M).
  • Do I need a Private Investigator?
We understand that hiring a Private Investigator can seem a bit intimidating but if you've found us then it's quite likely we can help. Often clients will call us when they feel they have nowhere else to turn but aren't sure exactly what type of help they need. That is where many investigations start and why we encourage you to contact us anytime with whatever questions you have. It might turn out that you don't need an Investigator, or it may not be the right time to begin an investigation. Even if we only end up referring you to other resources or services, our Investigators are happy to help. Once we understand the situation, we will try to provide the information needed to decide if our services are the right fit for you and your budget.
  • How much does an investigation cost?
Any case where an Investigator is out in the field i.e. infidelity, child custody surveillance, court research falls under an hourly rate. Searches, skip trace/locate, background checks, process service etc. will usually be a flat rate based on our price plan or tailored to a client’s specific needs. As we offer a broad range of services and will occasionally adjust work with a client’s budget, prices are quoted once we have all the relevant details.
  • I have an attorney, why do I need a Private Investigator?
The aid of an attorney is a valuable resource that we highly recommend (we do not give legal advice). However, attorneys have a specific function as they primarily prepare and present evidence for court. The attorney can only be as effective as the evidence he/she has before them to work with. This is where a Private Investigator is needed. Private Investigators go out into the field and gather valuable evidence and information, reinterview witnesses, perform surveillance and many other services that can aid the attorney as they prepare your case for court. If you've hired an attorney for your situations, odds are hiring a Private Investigator will only increase your odds of success and a favorable judegement!
  • Do you require payment in advance?
Yes. For surveillance and other hourly services, we will need an initial Retainer Fee for the estimated hours to begin the investigation. Flat Fee services will require full payment of the price quoted. The reason for this is that nearly all the services we offer have some cost involved either to pay Investigators for their time or to pay for searches, information retrieval etc.
  • What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash and all major credit cards.
  • How do you estimate the hours needed?
First and foremost we require the facts of the case, persons involved, locations etc. Once we agree to accept your case, we will work with you to try to establish what type and how much evidence is needed to achieve your goal. Then based on our experience of previous cases and your budget we will settle on the number of hours we believe it will take to begin the investigation. Additional hours or services may be added on later as the investigation progresses or if more evidence is needed.
  • How do I get my case started?
Contact us immediately by phone, email, or the form on our contact page for a FREE consultation. Once we understand the case, we can discuss your goals and concerns to give you an estimate or quote. If the case is accepted and we've agreed on the dates and strategy, a signed contract for services and payment will then be required. Once this is completed, we can begin as discussed.
  • What is the best way to contact you?
By phone is definitely the fastest way to relay the details and obtain an accurate quote. You can also email us at pi@investigatenc.com or send a message via our contact page. If we are not available, please leave a message. We check messages regularly day & night and try to respond as quickly as possible. If you have a preferred time or method that you wish to be contacted, please specify in your message and we will be happy to accommodate. This is especially important if you are contacting us about an infidelity case or are in a situation where it may be a problem to receive a call from us at the wrong time. Sometimes when we aren't able to respond immediately, we may decide to not call back if there seems to be a chance of compromising your situation or safety. In those situations we are patient and will wait for you to initiate contact with us again.
